LHC Straw Arrival- 2014- Finally!

Post by Avery » Thu Aug 07, 2014 11:45 am

I feel I must share, brag, gloat... call it what we will.... I'm in cuteness overload right now. So far I only know the sex of one of them and he's a he. (yay! This will make boy 2 in a tank unintentionally full of females).
This was arrival day- they have all changed shells/eaten/soaked- they are meeting the rest of the crew today (right now, actually).

A bit blurry- my camera was difficult to keep stable ....

I really can't believe I waited so many years to acquire these guys. They truly are amazing.
Thanks for looking :)

@ErikRasmussen- LOL! and thank you :)

Hmmmmm....I've been sitting here watching them and here is where I'm stuck:
three of the 4 look identical. I can find nothing that distinguishes them apart from each other. Besides turning them upside down and sexing them every time... I don't even know how to name them, maybe I shouldn't even try to name them...
The one who still has her baby stripes get a name- Lucy or Bee. I haven't decided yet.

Or maybe I should name them as a collective group instead of individually.

As my PP's have grown up- I can't tell who is who anymore (except for a couple, who leave me with zero doubt) I knew them all by certain colors and markings- time goes by and molts go by... and they all look the same now- I feel that I am most likely guessing 80% of the time I try to ID one of them. *shakes head*
I've actually considered renaming the entire group of them. After years of calling them certain names, I can't see that being at all successful either.

Do you think you can distinguish them by personality? I find that the only time their names are useful to me is when I am describing them to other people. Usually I have my own "mental idea" of who is who and the name just describes that.

Nice group, I can see why you're bragging! :)
I really wouldn't mind finding some straws in my local pet stores, a bit a variety is needed in my tank.. :)

None of my crabs have names except for Bigs haha. I feel bad sometimes but they can be hard to tell apart! They don't seem to mind ;)

They are so cute!

Hi Avery! How long ago did you place your order on LHC? I placed an order a blue about a month ago, just wondering what the average wait time is.
