Their business is reptiles, which are easy to sex and which pretty much do need to be sold as male or female due to the price and the likelihood of them being used in breeding projects. Sexing hermits crabs is much harder because it takes so much time and some crabs refuse to cooperate, and many places are still clueless on the real way to go about doing it. They may be using size, or claw shape, or color, or even the shell choice to make the determination on gender, or they may just arbitrarily choose crabs thinking no one will be the wiser. I've heard some crazy ways to tell the gender of crabs - none of which were true - over the years!
Thanks for the advice, I didn't realize sexing the crabs was that difficult. I've never had much trouble figuring out the gender, but most of my crabs come WAY out of their shell without much encouragement needed.

I was only able to snap one pic of my new straw this morning because I was running late to work. I haven't figured out a name yet, but he's really friendly and has inquisitive eyes :)

I grabbed my camera last night before it was "lights out". I see this often and pardon the sandy glass... as soon as I get it wiped off, they are smudging it all up again...
They all sit on the coral sea fan. I always giggle when I see this because at first glance they look like they are levitating.
It's really comical to watch the larger crabs try and do this.
