Have a DIY Lid idea? Post it here! (I need them!)
I share this world with a few crabs, a kid, a furry four legged barking kid, a wonderful man, and a lot of nonsense. Life is full of fun, and I'm full of life.

Best thing I did was go to Lowes and get 2 pcs of glass cut and sized for my tank. I had them shorten the front to back measurement about 3/4 just for airflow and bubbler lines.( I take a small strip of plastic and cover the opening) This keeps the humidity up and I can view from the top also. I have a 75 Gallon both pcs were $6 a piece and I got a couple stick on handles to help with opening. I hope this helps
Currently have 10 PP's Ella, Robert, Digger, Bruddy, Shelly, Itty, Hermie, clyde, Croix and clover in a 75G
Bitty, Crusty and Crabby my 3 E's in the 75g
11 more in a 46b 9/18/14
Just rescued a stowaway from St Croix 8/10/14

I love this guy's videos!!! They've helped me a ton with setting up my aquariums. I haven't tried that lid...wish I'd seen it a few hours ago it would have saved me a major headache makeing the tops for my new 130...this might work but if you're using heat lamps it might get really soft and sink in maybe...I just took egg crate left over from my false bottom, cut it to size and wrapped it in plastic wrap over and over then added a couple little pieces of tape and dropped it in. I had to do some imaginative rigging for my lights though so they wouldn't melt the plastic wrap plus I don't know if egg crate will melt or not. My humidity right now is currently sitting between 95-99 all day.ErikRasmussen wrote:Hey i have never tried this but does anyone know if this could work for hermit crabs?

Hermits could easily lift and squeeze out of those open spaces! You'd have to find a way to anchor it around the entire perimeter so they couldn't escape. You may also lose too much humidity from the gaps.

Yeh I thought of all of those. And I ended up going a modified version of the glass lids I was just about to see if I could start putting them together now. I'll post pics
