I can def. try to post some pics. Will be back with those. I found the shells. Sputnik left his near by and was sitting in a hole. He still hasn't left his new shell and his just sitting quietly. Strangeship thus far has left the food (I put him there) but still won't wear a shell.

Image That is Strangeship leaving yet another shell.

Image This is the 15 gallon set up. I moved Sputnik here since he didn't dig down so that he wouldn't have to wait for the other tank to get enough depth. This tank is smaller but still has lots of climbing toys.

Image This is the Iso that Strangeship is currently living in. It is next to the lights heating the 15 gallon for warmth.

Image Strangeship is still naked but he seems to have strength. He managed to leave the food bowl and head back to the igloo.

Image Another picture of the 15 gallon. Hard to get a good one without reflections. I am working on getting a picture up of the 29 gallon tank before I took everything except the substrate out. (I wanted Sputnik to have shells and such)

Image Got the 29 gallon picture up.

Something is very wrong. Turning green?

I think I've read somewhere that people have put a towel over the tank and the darkness cuts down on stress. Maybe cause it simulates the darkness of molting? It can't hurt as long as they stay warm enough anyway. How is the humidity?

Humidity is at 80%. I put the towel over and have him next to a heat source

How is Strangeship today? I have been dealing with a nudist crab for several days now and here is what worked for me to get him to shell himself:

Put a half inch of fresh water in the bottom of a tupperware container that will juuuust fit Strangship. Then fill a shell with fresh water and a splash of salt water. Put the shell in the tupperware (seriously, the smaller the better, so he has no room to do anything else) and put Strangeship's butt in the shell as far as you can without squishing it. Then put the lid (with holes poked in it) on the container and put him in the main tank for 2 or 3 hours before you open the container again. He will die if not in a shell, so it's more important that he get shelled than have food. If he still hasn't shelled after 2-3 hours, leave him in for another 2-3 hours before putting him back in the regular iso. The container shouldn't even be much taller than it needs to be for the crab to fit. Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you so much! I shall try that as soon as I get home. He is still naked and as far as I can tell has not moved. I thought I smelled the death smell but I realized that shrimp left overnight have the same smell. Even the dried ones. Sputnik has been very inactive as well. I worry about adding another crab to the tank but he is alone? Thank you guys again.

You have my condolences, OP. :(

I'm finding this seems to be happening with my Es too. I'm rather hesitant to get more, even though I really like them. They seem to refuse any and all shells I offer, whether it's () or O openings. :?:

Sorry for your loss .

When you said his abdomen was green could it have been paint from the shell? What colors wear on the shell ?
I think they often use airbrush could be overspray on the poor thing .
