We bought 'Tooth Fairy' about 3 weeks ago. She has been doing fine in the tank. Yesterday morning she was out and about moving behind the fake vines. However, last night when I went upstairs, she was out in the open almost out of her shell and not moving.
When I checked an hour later, she was in the same position so I picked her up to check her out. She was completely limp on the left side. She moved her big claw slightly. I immediately put her back and read through the recent posts in the Emergency section of the forum. I understand she could be dying OR she could be surface molting.
My tank is a 49 gallon crabitat. The fresh water is homemade from well water and treated for chloromines and heavy metals. The salt water is homemade from Oceanic and also treated. The temp is 80 degrees and heated by a ceramic bulb in the middle and UTH on back wall. The humidity is spot on at 80% due to a sprits of water every morning and evening. The substrate is a mix of sand and coconut fiber (more coconut fiber than recommended). I give them two separate shells of food (all from the forums safe food list) and change it daily. There are four other crabs in the tank. Two medium and two small.
After reading the forum, I moved a log on the right side of the tank and placed Tooth Fairy in the hollow. I filled a small shell with honey and laid it right next to her. I will continue to sprits her in the morning and afternoon. I do have an ISO tank with a cave and UTH heater on the side. Would it be better to move her? What else can I do?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks-
Alan

Everything sounds good. It could be PPS since she's so new. viewtopic.php?t=93837
ISO (in the main tank is fine as long as the others can't get to her), keep conditions right, easy access to food and water, and try not to disturb her unless absolutely necessary. A surface molt is also a possibility. I hope she pulls through. :grouphug:
