Filtered pools 101
Re: Filtered pools 101
It's so frustrating because I also cannot share pics through photobucket on my phone. I'll see if I can link to the photobucket page...
Re: Filtered pools 101
This is the saltwater pool (that filter is not good for sw use...learned that the hard way)

Hhmm. Maybe because my albums are set to private? I'll see if I can share next time I can access the internet on the laptop. Sorry.
Edit: even when I'm logged out they work for me...?

Re: Filtered pools 101
Initially the picture pops up then it refreshes and goes to an error page for me. I love the pools though.

I could and still can see them..
Your pools are SOOOO awesome, CallaLily! Why did you take them out? The filter pouring water back out onto the water surface looks so slick! I would never have the guts to do built in pools!

Re: Filtered pools 101
They developed a leak that I didn't notice until it was too late. I lost 4-5 crabs that were under due to the flooding.
If you or anyone else decides to do built in pools, use glass - not plexiglass like I did. I found out afterward that the aquarium sealant just doesn't seal well to plexi. I miss those pools though! I loved seeing the crabs "swim". I really think I want to do large cycled pools again but something removable that I can put on a support above the substrate so I don't lose molting space.
Thank you.

Re: Filtered pools 101
Instead of ramps out of the pools I am going to silicon this to the inside right under the lip so they can use it to get out. Even the smallest can use it. http://t.petco.com/product/118899/Petco ... SiteSearch I have this as the center piece in my tank now.
Then I am going to attach these as well as the ramp going up. http://t.petco.com/product/118897/Petco ... SiteSearch they will be long enough since part of my pool is underground. The pool will be full of either argonite sand or crushed coral as its substrate.
This will save a lot of room when it comes to the external part of the ramp and will allow that room to be used on the opposite end for the pool filter. Plus, I think it would look awesome.
I am going to have the new pool tank siliconed and put it in where the sw is and fill it with sw. That way while the current pool is out to be siliconed they will have their smaller fw pool still available. One it isz siliconed it will go in as the fw pool and the small fw pool will come our. Sort of a rotation that prevents much tank upset.

Re: Filtered pools 101
It is all from the Greek ruins set. My crabs for the most part are named after Greek gods/goddesses and hero's. Yay theme tank.
