When to get another crab?

It depends on where the crabs entered the US, and which distributor they came from. The major companies who import Purple Pinchers are located in New Jersey, so a crab being sold in California may have been shipped from the Eastern US. Hard to say for sure without tracking back the warehouses and distributors, which is often impossible.

How large is your main tank? Two crabs may be the right amount, so you don't want to get more and end up with too many if the the 3 month molter is okay.

If you're planning on staying at 10 gallons, then two medium crabs per tank is about max, and as they grow they will need more space.

A micro wears a shell no larger than a dime.

That's a normal 20 ounce or 2 litre pop cap.

He's my tiniest. He changed into a teeny tiny turbo the other day. He is too fast to get a pic of loose in the tank.

I saw one a little bigger that that at petsmart, he was insane!! I would put him on my hand and when I picked up his shell, he would come out, and as soon as he touched my hand he snapped back into his shell. Are they fast because they are so small?

Yep. They are little fireballs too. The best thing, no matter how hard he pinches me, it doesn't hurt at all.

I was pinched by my current crab Snap, who is a small, I thought I was going to die!! It hurt SOOOOOOO bad!!

I had an extra large pinch me. Cut me open, swelled, bruised deep and took 3 weeks to stop hurting.i was sobbing. He wouldn't let go.

You must have a nice little crabby. The most painful pinch I had was from a cute little snookums I thought couldn't hurt me. It latched on under my nail and wouldn't let go for what felt like forever. I was on my knees crying because it hurt so bad, begging it to let go, but it wasn't going to listen!

His claw can catch skin but is so little he can't catch enough to hurt me. I love that. Lol
