Fluker's new hermit line is doing it right!

Sand substrate made with SILICA SAND (not reptile sand!) and premixed with cocofiber and sea salt: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... 1&cmpid=sc

"Color enhancing" foods that are all natural:

And even a hand feeding kit with instant powder treat:

The other commercial foods are still commercial, but they don't contain the big baddies Ethoxyquin and copper sulfate.

I haven't seen the these things in stores yet, but Drs. Foster and Smith has them online. I tried looking at Fluker's site for more info but it hasn't even been updated for the new stuff yet.

Really excited to see major companies taking a step in the right direction!

Great find, wodesorel! That sand mix sounds like something I could use to add to my EE substrate -- my arthritic self can handle 6lb bags but not 50lb bags of playsand. It's also on sale through Thursday (yea!) but out of stock until 12/22 (sigh).

Nice! I had seen the color enhancing foods at Concord Pets recently. It's good to see them heading in the right direction. :)

If those "color enhancing" foods are 100% safe I might have to give it a shot! This is such exciting news!! I hope more companies follow this example :D
Shuckle (f), Clauncher (f), Omanyte (f), Weedle (f), Ralts (f) : 55gal Crabitat

Here's the ingredients from the website.
Feeding Directions
Place approximately 1 tablespoon per crab in your crab's feeding dish. Remove and discard all uneaten food after 48 hours. This is only a supplement for your crab. Make sure you offer a quality high-protein diet to your crabs daily. Once opened, store in a dry, cool place.
Red Ingredients:
Dried watermelon, dried red bell pepper, dried carrot, dried strawberry, dried orange bell pepper.

Purple Ingredients:
Dried blueberries, dried purple grapes, dried eggplant, dried cherries.
