Been waiting for this again. I always grab the largest size everytime. Might seem a little obsessive, but I have a massive amount of rescued crabs and constantly adopt haha.

Petco $1 per gallon

Post by Drakezilla » Fri Dec 12, 2014 11:44 pm

That is S U P E R tempting.

Hey, I've gotta ask -- I know you all have some BIG tanks -- WHAT do you put them on? That's like the only thing stopping me. Other than an actual stand I don't know what to put them on.

I could really use another 55 but I'm not sure if we can swing it right now. Did the manager say if it was specific sizes this time? Sometimes the sale maxes out at 40, sometimes 55.

Cinder blocks, a daybed, a coffee table, a utility shelf... Possibilities are ENDLESS! Fishtank stands are too high for me, esp when i do daily maintenance on the entire sub floor. With a tank that's 4ft long, i'm not interested in having to stand on a chair to do my crabby thing. Plus, they cost more than the tank and cannot multi purpose. I'd rather build a shelf than buy an fish tank shelf.
The utility shelf that i'm moving my 75 gal onto came from home depot and can handle 1200 lbs

If I don't already have a 55 I would be all over that sale! It's such a good deal. My tank came with a stand. I'm not super tall, but I can reach in to do tank maintenance. When I was setting the tank up, though, I had to have a step stool to mix the sand. If it hadn't came with the stand, I would've made something shorter out of cinderblocks, like YYWW suggested, just for the sake of my back.

I casually suggested to my husband just now that maybe a second tank could be a fun idea with the $1/gallon sale...I've never been told "No" so fast in my life.

Yeah, I've got a 60 I just bought with a stand and I don't know how I'm going to be able to get sand in it from the floor

As I'm living at home it needs to be a "pretty" stand in order for my mom to allow it in the house. Meaning no wire, wicker or giant black wood stands. Because of the way my 60 is built I got away with it somehow. I'm hoping that by my next upgrade, I'll have my own place or something.

Regardless, this sale would be perfect for the ( 1-2 gallon tanks) pools I want for the sixty!

Figures! I just bought a used 55! Darn!

It fits fine on my long dresser, and my 20 long is sitting on a night stand that my Dad made years ago.

To get the sub in, I mix some in a mop bucket, dump that in, and just keep going. It is a pain.

Woohoo! Thanks for posting :D .

I've been searching craigslist for a 29g and thought I'd found one (with a sliding screen top) but the seller didn't post any pics or indicate what city he/she was in and indicated only "no cracks, used for reptiles," I decided to pass on it. A 29g I'd picked up on craigslist a few years ago for my mice turned out to have been used for snake and large lizard breeding, was very scratched and was almost impossible to get truly clean -- at least I got a nice hinged lid out of the deal that fits on the mice's 20L.

Just an FYI with Petco's tank sales: although the other items in the flyer are on sale for the entire period, the tanks are often on sale for only 10 days so check carefully and don't wait too long into the sale period to make your purchase.
