I posted here about 3 weeks ago that my crab Ernie has gone down to molt. He's barely an inch tall and this is his first molt since I got them in July.
Since this is my first time dealing with a molting crab my nerves are just through the roof. I think it'll be 3 weeks or a month Monday since he's gone down and I just want to know if I should be concerned or not? There's no smell coming from the Eco earth and I'm sure I'll be able to smell it if he died but I just wanted to know how long should I wait till I should be concerned?

Worried about a molted
Re: Worried about a molted
My smalls have taken longer than that to molt. There's really no set time frame..He may have dug down to hang out and not molted right away. Obviously you know not to dig - I know how hard it is to be patient, and it's a pain to not have a definite answer on how long they'll take. For a crab his size I wouldn't really worry until it's been a few months...and even then I'd probably say to wait.

Yes. Looks like I spoke too soon he came up during the night and I saw him staring right outside the tank before I left for school

I think they deliberately do stuff like that to worry us. Glad he came up!BurnerDownz wrote:Yes. Looks like I spoke too soon he came up during the night and I saw him staring right outside the tank before I left for school
