My parents haven't seen it yet...:
Trying to decide what all to order from Amazon. Anyone have something you think might look good in the tat? So far I'm thinking heat mat, this magnatural http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EEHJR0Y/?re ... Nub07FYSRV and some cholla wood. Looked at some shells but nothing good. If you have any items your crabs love tell me!

32 gallon build!

Post by Teedeums » Sat Dec 27, 2014 10:47 pm

Earlier this year I found a cheap can of river shrimp for the crabs to eat by flukers on Amazon while browsing through trying to find something cheap for the crabs. They aren't contaminated with chemicals in the canning process and are very fresh. They have become a staple in the crabs diet, it is in the food dish almost every day and it always disappears. I will try and find the link to it, I'll add it in when I do. I've found several things I like for the crabs by just going to the reptile section of the pet section and browsing.

ETA: here is the link if you want, but now if you order it from Amazon itself it becomes an "add on item", so try ordering from a third party seller. And before you order make sure it is river shrimp, because there are four types of food you can choose from (unless your crabs want mealworm, cricket, or grasshopper). So, here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Flukers-Gourmet-C ... ver+shrimp. And for convenience, here is the reptile section if you want to browse: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... -keywords=

Wow, this has come a long way! I glad to see things are going so quickly! :) It looks awesome.
BTW, I don't know what your talking about... I haven't fired anyone from a pet store, however if I could, then most pet stores wouldn't have employees tomorrow.

Teedeums I was going to buy the shrimp but didn't have $25 worst of Amazon products :( ! That order was a pain in the neck :x anyway everything is estimated to be here by January 8. Here is everything that is coming if anyone is interested

In other news, my dad said he could probably get out the drill tomorrow. Why I couldn't just do it, I don't know. That's right, they don't trust a teenage girl with a drill, lol just kidding! But I got myself into a short notice video cast and she wants me over at 1 tomorrow....I can't say no to friends! So we'll see if holes get drilled tomorrow or not!
BTW, I don't know what your talking about...
I didn't see the "crab expert" at Pet supplies, so I was saying maybe I did actually get him fired, since he didn't know they were selling 2 species, that's all I was saying.

Most of us would be the same way I think...

Made a mistake in letting myself look at the floral and shells at Joann  I am spending wayy too much money on this tank!
So I got this

and some needle point canvas to make this

I have a question though. Do you guys think the crabs will be able to get out of the water pools?
Image
I'm afraid they won't be able to

It looks like they should be able to get out of the pools.

The concept looks amazing, I can't wait to see it finished :)

I believe that they will be able to get out of the pools, maybe test it with a crab - with/without water.
But I love that level thing you made of of needlepoint canvas, it looks really cool!
Did I mention that I might of been pulling your leg? Of course I knew what you were talking about!

I knew better :x

BTW holes are drilled and I'm going to try and get past this huge heart break and get the tank ready so when everything comes in the mail I can get it in the tank and then get everyone moved into the tote.

There will obviously be some other plants and additions that I didn't add to the sketch so it will look a little fuller and more green.
How do you get into the tank?

How do you get into the tank?
All I have to do is lift off the tank and do whatever needs to be done. Or take off the tote lid to get in and out. Just depends on what I need to reach :)

I have some updated pictures :D

What do you think? I love how it looks now, I can't wait to get my stuff from Amazon to make it look even better and get the topper decorated. I still have more stuff in the tank with the crabs! So waiting for the order to arrive and then I still have to put the velcro down for the topper.
I need your input on something, I want the tote in my room so I can easily see them at night and not have to leave my room to see them. But the place it has room to sit is right next to a window. Should I hope the heat mat heats it even though it's next to the window or give up the ease of being able to see them at night? It may end up my parents don't want the tote in the living room put what would you guys do?

The pictures really don't show the true look of it :(

Hmm, how insulted is your room? If it is well insulated, I think it wouldn't be a problem, they might enjoy some indirect light too - I know my hermies do. I guess you could aways try it out and see if it works. If not, then I suggest "upgrading" the heat, insulating or moving it...
