Aww I'm sorry the tanks was a bust- that sad! But your so super kind to offer to ship me some!dinky wrote: Busy crying over the 133 gal tank I just looked at that was all scratched up....so wanted that tank ): Will try to get some pics for you, don't think they would ship well, even if we got a warm spell as I've had trouble keeping them alive for more than a couple days in a critter carrier, but maybe I'll try moss....if moss keeps them alive, we will wait for a warm spell and I will ship you some.

Wow, just read interesting facts on these brown garden snails, they are not dying, they can seal off front of shell and hibernate for up to two months when conditions are not favorable.....so if they call for unexpected warm up I will send some.Ryry wrote: I appreciate that! I live up in CT soooo it's crazy frigid with snow on the way lol. I don't think I'm going to be finding snails!

Re: Snail feast
I have a few questions about snails and roly polys.
1. Do they keep the tank clean?
2. Will they die and just create a big mess a have to clean?
3. Do they burry never to be seen again?
4. Is it safe to put them in the tank of you spray insect repellent in your yard?
5. Can they get the crabs sick or anything like that?
Thanks in advance! Any other info would be appreciated!

#1. Mine really keep my tank clean, if the crabs drag food out of the dish they clean it up.kadynadair16 wrote:I have a few questions about snails and roly polys.

#2. The only time mine die is if they get in the water dish.
#3. Mine are out every night and very active.....they don't dig down very far, you can see all their little holes.
#4. If your yard is sprayed, I would say no don't put them in, you would be better off to take a hike on a trail in an area where they don't spray and get some there.
#5. Mine have been eating them for over 4 years, and I still have all my crabs. They set for hours catching and waiting on one to crawl by them. I think it's good entertainment to keep them from getting board.
HOWEVER: The one thing I don't like is, when the pp's go down to molt (usually they all decide to go down close to when the others are down and they are down for up to 3 months with my big ones) Then I have to go back at nights and catch some of them and put them back outside.....they breed pretty fast when you don't have the crabs up to eat them. I feel it's worth it though and enjoy watching them in there.
