I'm New .
I have only had hermit crabs for about 6 months, and it has only been a month since I realized what type of care and environment they need . So as quickly as possible, I bought a larger tank, filled it with natural sand, gave them a heating lamp, gave them a pool, and started to feed them fresh foods . I am so happy that I am learning so much from this forum, I appreciate everyone who realizes that I am trying and seeking help because I know I still have more to learn . I have been spending about 3-5 hours a day just reading people posts and questions on here . I love it ! Some of you have been SO helpful in such a sweet and understanding way, so thank you so much for that, really . But I feel like people won't understand that I am trying so hard, I want to see my babies happy, I LOVE them . If anyone could PM me to be like my mentor or just so I can have a friend that knows about hermit crabs or shares the interest, that would be great .
RIP To My Wonderful Baby Boy Sebastian . I love and miss you so dearly . ♡

I am just afraid that people will feel that I am a horrible crab owner or that I do things wrong on purpose . I love my crabbies and that is why I'm here . I love this forum, you guys are THE BEST ! ♡

The only way anyone would say you're horrible is if you know better but still do things wrong That doesn't seem to be the case. Don't be afraid to ask questions and try not to get overwhelmed with all the info that will get thrown at you

So far the people here have been nothing but helpful to me, and I don't have any crabs yet.

I think you're awesome for being willing to learn what mistakes you've made! I'm in the process of setting up the tank for my kids but I can't get the temperature right so I'm moving it out of the kids room to the dining area which has a more stable temperature.
It's fun learning this whole process. Good luck and I hope to learn from you!

We all start somewhere and it is almost always by making mistakes listening to pet store employees or incorrect online information.
We have all been there and continue to learn as time goes on.

What Kelly said! We're all learning from one another (and from our crabs) every day, no matter how long we've been crabbing. I've had hermits since 2008 and was inadvertently doing a number of things wrong until I found this website last year. How some of my crabs managed to survive for years before I found HCA is a miracle but the changes I made have clearly been appreciated by the crabbies. Like you, I can spend hours each day just reading the new posts, looking at crab and crabitat pictures, checking out items recommended by HCA members, etc, etc. Sometimes it's sheer information overload and I'll have to take a day off from perusing the forum ! Bottom line is we're all here for one another, enjoying each other's successes and commiserating with one another's setbacks and losses. Never feel that any questions you have are irrelevant or that anyone is judging you. We all want what's best for our crabs and are always glad to help another member, newbie or long-timer.KellyCrabbieLove wrote:We all start somewhere and it is almost always by making mistakes listening to pet store employees or incorrect online information.
