Hi everyone. Haven't been around for a while...
Long story short, I am moving and am not able to keep the 150 gallon
I'm going to have to switch my crabs (4) to a tote. A tank isn't an option right now. I have plans to make lots of levels and climbing things, attaching them to the side of the tub so they'll have room but I'm not sure what size I need!
Right now at Walmart they have 68L totes on sale with locking lids... would that be big enough? What am I looking at here?
Tia!

Re: Tote size?
I should add, I have one large crab, 1 med and 2 small.
Re: Tote size?
I'm sorry to hear about the 150g I'm sure that's hard to let go of.
I've had my crabs in totes before and love them. Just like a tank it takes a bit of finesse but it's totally doable. 68L is about 18 gallons (according to Google) so I would think that's a bit small. I've done a 20g and a 40g. My crabs and I both enjoyed the 40g more. I'd take a look at dimensions when buying just to make sure you'll have enough room for sand and climbing space. When you get into the bigger totes (from what I remember... It was a while ago) they don't often come in clear which means you can't watch them like you do a tank. This was a drawback and got on my nerves but I knew the totes were temporary so I went for size. One plus side to that was that my crabs seemed to really come out of their shells (pun intended ) in the tote and I saw lots of action when I did want to see them. This of course horrified them when I moved them into the tank bc then I was able to see them all the time. All in all, I love tanks but I think my crabs loved the totes. They definitely have some advantages especially when it comes to moving.

Re: Tote size?
I guess I'll have to go check them out and bring a measuring tape lol.
I do have a 20 gallon reptile tank but I've had issues keeping humidity/heat in tanks before. I've seen the light when it comes to tubs as I've gotten 2 ball pythons in the last month and their tubs are super easy to keep.
Guess I'll have to go for a coloured tub! That's a little disappointing but I don't really have a choice!
Edit - From poking around I've found a 105L and 113L clear tub. Going to see if I can grab one of those

Re: Tote size?
Got everything set up. Equivalent of a 30 gallon. Humidity is at 78% with just water and heat is at 74. Back of the tub is already insulated with heavy duty tinfoil. Hopefully the temp goes up a bit more and I don't have to do much else to it.
