Little white parasite worms?

Post by shanedaman112 » Sat May 16, 2015 11:00 am

Hia, I took a peek at the tank a couple minutes ago and found these little tiny worms on the glass. There are tons of them. They're about a half inch long, they are solid white, and super thin. This picture looks just like them, though I'm not sure if it is exactly them. Image

Any help would be much appreciated :)

That was my very first thought, but I thought they were microscopic. Aren't they?

From what I read their sizes vary depending on what kind. But I'm not sure.

I came across this when looking around. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.cann/ ... teans.html
Maybe?

I did a quick search on those and they don't quite look like these. the picture I have there is the best example of what I've seen. regardless, you think I need to do a deep clean? I'm just unsure :/

When questionable bugs are in my enclosure, I do a good cleaning.

Nematodes. I've had them that size in plants, and the aquatic kind in my fishtanks. The can get to around a 1/2 inch. Not sure if they could be dangerous to the crabs. If you don't have molters, I would suggest a substrate change and cleaning. Roundworms can be harmless or harmful. It's very unlikely they would hurt a crab, but without knowing how they got there it would be safest to be rid of them.

I've got one molter at the moment. One came up today, so that leaves 3 up of 4. only thing is, I'm pretty sure another will go down before the big guy comes up.
