I have a couple questions on hermie water and water dishes.
How often should I be changing the fresh and salt water? I noticed there's a lot of sand and bits at the bottom of the containers. Am I supposed to be cleaning them daily to avoid that?
What's a good way to stop the crabs from tracking so much sand in to the water? Is it just a fact of tank life, or is there a solution?
Thank you

Re: Questions about water/dishes
For a regular dish, it's best to change the water daily but it would be safe enough to go every 2-3 days between complete changes. A larger pool that is cycled like a fish tank would be treated differently.
You can try placing things in front of the dishes, like cholla for example, so the crabs have to crawl over it to get to the pool. This may help knock some of the substrate off. Dishes sunk down into the substrate get filled with substrate faster, in my experience. But it's pretty much a fact of tank life.

I piled some rough tiny shells around the dishes, hopefully that will help some. I have one dish sunk in the sand and the other above, both seem to get equal amounts of sand tracked in, but I may try having them both above.
