Sorry! Don't mean to worry you. I'm just amazed at how well she's done. That morning when I first found her circling around with her one ear to the floor.....I really didn't think she was going to recover.

Here's a few pics from this evening. Sometimes she holds her head almost normal, especially when she's sitting up to munch on food.

Bacon would not cooperate at all so every pic of her was just a blurry butt shot. But she's doing well too.

LOL I know right! She's a little fluff ball.

I was just looking back at pics in this thread. Her eye definitely looks better and her head tilt (even when walking, when it's turned more than those pics above show) isn't as turned! I'm so glad I shared those pics. I guess it's easier to forget how bad it looked then I thought.

Managed to snap this one of Bacon just now. She does not like my phone ... or me so much.

Really though she just puts up with me being around. The only time she's interested in climbing on me is during playtime when I ask her "home?" Then she'll pop right onto my hand because she knows she's going back to the tank.

I made a coconut hideaway (with a lot of help from the husband) for the mice last night. I took tips from ErinsAnimals' YouTube video but this morning I did notice we'd missed a few tiny tiny bits of flesh and there was a slight sour coconut smell. So I did end up boiling it as well - after scraping it out really well again. It's drying now but I know they'll love it. When I first got them I had glued together two old hermit crab cocohuts and they really loved sleeping in it. I'm definitely going to make a couple more, for the mice and also a few with much larger openings for my crabs (since I pretty regularly have coconuts anyway). Though it'd have to be a pretty big opening for my big guys so I'm not sure how much of a hide it'd actually be or if they'd even fit. But maybe one for my medium-ish crabbies.

Not sure if I'll hang it or not yet.

Edit: Grrr, Tapatalk messed the video link up. It worked exactly how I meant it on the site though.

Swinging. :D

Up the "slide", just like a kid.

I know, I know. It's probably a sign that I need help, building a playground for the mice. :hlol: There's also a (terribly crooked) jungle gym.

Their tanks at the moment:

Bacon likes the coconut but getting a pic of her in it so far hasn't proved easy. My camera isn't fast enough.

Sooooooo.

I stopped at Petco tonight for cat supplies. I honestly had no intentions of buying anything mouse related. I told my husband I'd just do my usual quick run through the rodent aisles just to look. Seriously. I've done it probably a hundred times without buying a thing. I've been tempted but I usually have pretty good self control. But tonight I saw him. An adorable 8 month old male mouse up for adoption called Daryl Dixon - and me in my "All my friends are walkers" shirt! With empty tanks at home, I couldn't resist. There've been several males up for adoption there before and each time I was able to walk away. Just not this time. :love5:

Here's a quick shot of him as I'm trying to let him settle in.

Crazy thing is, I didn't even see him my first time through! I zipped through the rodent section to try to get my fix  and made a bee line for the cat section. Browsed there quickly (they were minutes from closing) and grabbed what I needed. Circled around to head towards the registers, which admittedly was a little out of the way, to just ogle the ends of the rodent aisles again as I walked past. And that's when I saw him in a 15g on top of the ferret tank. I stopped dead in my tracks and knew instantly I had to bring him home. :love5: It wasn't until after that, that I noticed his name. My husband didn't even argue.

I love The Walking Dead but I'm undecided on if he should keep the name. What do you think? Does he look like a Daryl?

I could see him as a Daryl, but that might be my Walking Dead fanatic speaking. Either way, he's adorable!

Thanks, Crabinski. Everyone at TFM agrees he's agouti. NM says she also thinks he's brindle and would call him "broken brindle". I didn't realize they could be both. It's all so fascinating but I'm not sure I'll ever have it down.

He's still a little skittish but his curiosity is getting the better of him so he doesn't always dash away when I approach the tank now. I had to get in there today to clean his wheel and fill the food dish. He was brave enough to come give my hand a sniff. :D

Speaking of smelling and that wheel. Phew he's a bit stinky! But I remember the girls would muck up their wheels like that and had a bit of "pet shop funk" so I'm hoping that'll change a bit as time passes. I mean it's not the worst smell ever. My husband had taken to calling him "Double D" (Daryl Dixon seems to be sticking so far) but with his tank being wiffy this morning (mostly from that wheel), he started calling him "Triple D" - Dirty Daryl Dixon.

I love the name Willow, btw. :)
