Setting up an eBay Store

Post by CrabbyEmerson » Mon Jun 01, 2015 6:16 pm

Let me start by saying while to most it's probably odd that I'm considering a store so early in my crab hobby, I have lots of experience with ebay selling and let's face it this crabbing hobby is addictive :D Selling = profits = more crabby stuff!

I would like some input on what y'all would be interested in seeing in my store.
The items I've planned so far:
Apple & Maple twigs/branches
Maple leaves
Dandelion leaves
Blackberry leaves
Dried apple slices
What else do you think I should sell? What do you think of powdered leaves? Basically dried leaves crushed into powdered form.

The above items will all be harvested from my own garden, pesticide free.

All suggestions are appreciated :)

If I didn't live in the citycity, I've thought of doing a store too. I like what you have so far, but I've noticed that the big ticket items are "personal" mixes. Something completely unique and fun, if that makes sense?

Hmm, I might try creating a powdered mix. With different leaves and some shrimp maybe? Thanks!

No problem. Staples are always good, especially with things that are generally native to your area. I know myself, I tend to purchase things that I can't easily get myself, or mixes that have things in it that are hard for me to get locally.

I like the leaves and shrimp idea. Combining important nutrients is definitely a seller too, at least to me :D

I don't know if you'd like the thought of this or how much profit you could make from it - but perhaps you could buy some of the harder-to-find things from sites like Mountain Rose Herbs in bulk (there are discounts if you buy large amounts of one item) to add to your mixes? But it is kind of expensive, so I'm not sure if it'd be something you'd want to do. I like the idea, but I haven't really gotten the urge to sit down & see what the costs versus profit would be yet. I might do it when my future plans are a little less uncertain.

I've been looking at the Mountain Rose Herbs website. The bulk discounts are good. My local health food store has a large selection of herbs and spices and powders, so I'll probably start there and see how the prices compare. Thank you :)

I was thinking the same :) and I mean, if it takes off, you can always use a little profit to get something pricier to add into a special mix every so often too.

Maybe different sizes too. I've noticed that not all crabs go crazy for the same thing. Maybe do a small sample pack of a bunch of different things.

I've seen other crab food sellers sell 'sample packs.' It's a great idea! I know if I was buying I would go for a sample pack before buying a large amount of something new, to see if the crabs like it. :)
