I know some of you may be getting tired of my mousey updates lol, but I thought I'd update on Cheeseburger. I think it's been about a month since my last one and we are quickly approaching our 1 year anniversary . :D

She's the same! Which is a good - no great thing. :D As you can see in the pics, she still holds her head to the side but sometimes, like when she's munching on food or running on the wheel, you can hardly tell. She still hasn't completely forgiven me over the medicine thing and I don't think she ever will. Meaning, she used to very willingly hop on to my hand when offered - now the closest I get is a paw or two and a sniff. I can still scoop her when I have to and though she's never acted aggressive, she very obviously complains. Chittering at me (like Bacon always has) and she freaks out a little. But she does still come out when she hears me and still enjoys play time in the bin. But anyway, here are the pics. :) Don't mind the mess, I just cleaned the tank yesterday but as you can see they've been quite busy in the food dish.

She's so cute!! :D And I"m glad she's doing well, and that your new boy is bonding well with you already. I don't comment on here, but I do really like seeing your updates on these guys. I want pet rats eventually, but mice are adorable too!

I will never tire of the updates. I probably won't get rodents again for a very long time, definitely not until we have a bigger place at the very least, so love seeing the little furries.
I'm so happy she's doing well. The same is awesome nonetheless, and I'm sure she'll come around again. I found some rodents with an "illness" tended to shy some regardless of treatments tried. I think it's a natural instinct as they know they're technically weaker, so I wouldn't take it personally heh

Yay Cheeseburger! I never get tired of updates, either. Rodents are the best!

I hope she comes around to you soon, but rats/mice seem to hold serious grudges. When one of my male rats, Fred, was a baby he escaped from me and went zooming off. I grabbed him instinctively by the scruff and now a year and a half later, he still squeals at me if I scoop him up.

Thanks guys. :D

Whatever the cause of her distrust, I'm just glad she's doing so well. She can spend the rest of her life fussing at me when I need to pick her up and I'd be one happy mousey mommy. :D

Love the updates ^.^. So glad that she is doing so good. Sadly with that they won't heal 100% and the chance that it might reoccur can happen. At least now you can treat it and fast in the case that it does. So happy that she has gotten better and we hope that she stays that way! :cheer:
Are you sure that she is fussing? Mine used to do a lot of "talking" lol. He loved to be talkedd to and he talked back. No idea what he was chattering about but it seemed to make him happy to have that interaction like I did lol. He was always wanting to be held tho. I would lay my hand flat and he'd hobble on over into my hand to be held. Used to walk around with him in my pocket lol. He was good like that and so very mellow. He was very friendly and trusting with me. Idk if he was just that grateful that I saved his life or that it was just his very forgiving nature. I did find more pics of him tho If you guys would like to see them.

Oh no she's fussing. She does come out when I call (in hopes of treats I think lol) but does not hop onto my hand anymore. When I pick her up she fusses and freaks out a little, wanting out of my hands. It's very different from how she used to react to me and I have no doubt it's not a happy or excited reaction. She'll do all she can to avoid being scooped up (except bite thankfully).

I'd love to see pics. :)

Aww that is a shame but didn't she just finish a round of meds? She might be thinking "uh oh med time" lol. She will get better with it if you keep at it. I am so lucky Ollie was such a good boy he didn't mind his meds and often asked for them when he needed them. He was put on diluted pain meds that he could take when the pain got to much. So he didn't mind it he knew it helped once he was healed he never asked for it after, my tough lil man.

Amy was not a fan of photos lol she hid....a lot from the camera. She was a pretty gold/blonde color.

Ollie's "Baby" he adopted a lil baby my female from another family set refused to feed and care for that was a runt. Ollie and his mate took her in and she nursed her on top of me feeding her via syringe. This is her grown up. She stayed with them and her 2 "aunts". Ollie was a very happy lil man with 3 girlfriends :P.

Ollie's nurse and favorite mate Fluffy: She took over shelling his seeds for him which helped us both lol. He loved pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

He was very spoiled and very happy lol. 1 male and 4 girls once baby grew up. So tho he couldn't have kids of his own baby filled his heart. They loved taking care of her lol n tho he had no limbs or tail he still managed to pin her down and kiss her all over the face lol. As she got older man did she yell at him lol but he loved that girl. He had a lot of needs to make sure he didn't get cut i.e. special cage, special litter, I covered his wooden house with soft fabric. lil ramps had to be put in, and a special wheel all costly but worth it for that lil guy. Had a heart of gold that lil guy. I do miss him but he lived a very long time one that his doc we shocked at since he said he wouldn't last the night when I got him. He was 4 when he died.

It's been a little over two months since we finished the meds. She has improved some with her reaction to me and may get even better over more time. I'm just not getting my hopes up, but I will keep working with her. :)

Ollie's story is just amazing! It sounds like he did really well, despite his injuries. I love the pic where he's peeking out of the hide. He and his girlfriends were super cute! Thank you for sharing. :D

So glad she is doing so good! Yea he really cut it close to close but he made it like a champ. So will she :). Just keep working with her and she will get close. I always thought about their nervousness this way...for as little as they are to us imagine how big we are to them and what you would do if we were that small and something our size went to pick you up. Lol I'd run like heck too :P. :hlol:

Looks like you were right, Nia. She just needed time and patience. Yesterday she hopped into my hand at playtime. I thought it was just her wanting to go home, but this morning she very slowly but willingly hopped into my hand three different times from the tank. I forget too easily that it took a few months to gain that trust in the first place. She's still wanting back down almost right away but I remember being here before and I know with more patience she'll come around even more. :)

Funny thing, Twix is suddenly a little shy about hopping into my hand. But she still begs to come out when she sees me. I wonder if her nervousness has to do with Daryl's scent in the air. We aren't fully at the end of our 3 week quarantine period (ends this weekend) but it has been getting 88-90F in my room so I went ahead and moved his tank out into the same room as the girls, where it only gets up into the low 80s on most days.

Daryl is awesome! He begs to come out whenever he sees me and likes to climb around on my shoulders and arms. When it's time to go back, he begs to stay out. And his nippy habits are less and less. :D He still has that musky skunky boy smell but I don't think its quite as bad as when he first came home. Idk if I'm just getting used to it or if it's lessened some. He is pretty messy. He ruins MES much faster than the girls usually do and manages to get poo way up high on the glass and on top of his water bottle.

Hashbrown and Bacon are the same. Hash begs to come out, Bacon ignores me.

Here's a few pics after tank cleanings yesterday.

Image

Hashbrown and Bacon's. There's a cardboard tube maze in the box under the flying saucer, with a little extra room for hiding/nesting.

Image

Twix and Cheeseburger. Under their flying saucer is two cardboard drink trays glued together. It holds the saucer pretty steady and still allows them to get in/under the cup holders. This morning I noticed they've snagged the E out of love and I have no idea where they've hidden it.

Image

Daryl. There's tubes, smaller boxes, egg carton pieces, and things attached inside of both boxes to make them more interesting. The egg carton thing in the middle has 3 levels and he is loving the hanging one too. This morning his blocks are all jumbled around and now spell out DDYRK. At least it was cute in the pics. :D

And because they're too cute not to share, some snuggly (backwards) hoody pics of Daryl.
