Does anyone have a phone number for Live Hermit Crabs that works? I can't find a number anywhere on the site. Like most who have posted here, I am waiting and waiting for my crabs. I didn't mind that they were a bit later than promised, but I am truly distressed by their refusal to return my emails inquiring about the order. I am thinking I need a telephone number that I can call until I finally get an answer.

The average response time to an e-mail is:
If you haven't ordered yet, 24 hours
If you've just ordered, 1 week
If you're inquiring as to why it's taking too long, no response
I've read almost every one of the 96 pages of posts on this and all my research has come down to these two options: You can either cancel the order or wait until the magical day that your crabs arrive, which could be anytime within one year. If there was a phone number it wouldn't work anyway. And if you used the FBI to track her down she would only tell you two more weeks, like she always says. Good luck.

Add me to the list of orders outstanding with near complete lack of response from livehermitcrabs.com. I placed order on May 6, 2015 for 1/2 dozen E's. Credit card was charged in full on May 7th. I knew from online reviews to be patient, and the website says in stock - but I had know idea my experience would be this bad. Despite the lack of communication to my requests for order status, the fact that they charged my credit card and have not shipped is very shady. I will dispute the charge via my credit card so not worried about being out the funds, but to me the crabs are either in stock or they are not. The website even today says in stock and 2 weeks shipping wait. Not my experience at all. The first response I received was late May and consistent with others, i.e., behind on orders, medical issues, will be selling existing stock, etc. So I then asked if my order would still be filled or cancelled, and response was just a few more weeks. I am now almost 8 weeks into this, my credit card has been charged and the only reason I haven't cancelled or disputed the charge with credit card co. is because I don't know where else to buy E's. If anyone knows where to buy E's in central IL, please let me know. Also these crabs are for my kids but that doesn't matter at all to livehermitcrabs.com.

I ordered in April. Asked when to expect my hermit crabs, and finally got a response mid May, saying it would be two weeks. No word or hermit crabs since. Oy vey!

Do NOT buy from reptile city. With LHC someone at least sees that crabs beforehand, Reptile city is mostly likely a dropshipper so you'll get whatever the collector wants to throw in your box. Plus no one that has that many species for sale is going to be anything but an animal mill or he's getting everything wild caught. And overnight live animal shipping is $40+ for me (florida) And that's for feeder INSECTS, not live, sensitive animals like frogs and lizards and snakes.

Just wanted to add that hermit crabs (and possibly others) do not breed in captivity so the animals for sale in the case of hermits are harvested from the wild.

I happen to love and fully endorse Reptile City. Two of my large crabs came from there and from the moment I unboxed them last year they have been nothing but sweet, social and healthy babies and have both molted with me twice. They arrived less than 24 hours from when shipped, were packaged wonderfully and were in perfect shape. Neither even dug down to destress.

Fr33fall30 I ordered 2 small aussie's the day before you ordered Es. Hope we both get our babies soon. I would cancel the order, but I want aussie's and she's the only one who has them. Some petshops sell e's....maybe if you asked your local shop they could order them for you? You might have to wait for them to come in, but it probably won't be as long. I think I'm going to order straws through my petshop next year, but one new species at a time. I want to make sure everyone is happy together before I bite off more than I can chew. If everyone gets along, that's perfect, but if not, I only have two tanks set up at the moment, and I need to know I'll have the option of sepperating if necessary.

I communicated with LHC and told her to cancel my order. I refuse to do business with such an unprofessional company. I haven't even received a response to acknowledge refund. I expected this and also went back to my credit card and explained transaction. My ccard refunded the charge.

At least my experience, everything you hear or read about lack of communication, unreliable, charging before shipping, etc are all true. STAY AWAY. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LHC.com THE WORST.

My experience with LHC is farther back in the thread-straws that the order was fine but they were much smaller than I ordered & got a rude response when I asked why and an Aussie order I cancelled after 6 months of all the same complaints.

Does anyone know for 100% that they even got Aussies?

No, for good reason. This has been a topic of horror actually. Crabs spending days...days and days in transport, showing up long dead...it is terrible and inhumane. He needs to be shut down. He needs to be punished for animal cruelty.

KellyCrabbieLove is right. People in the US have ordered & that was what happened because he was using DHL. Yeah, as in no better than UPS to move live animals across the globe. He sent something like 63 crabs to the US in 5 shipments and all but one were DOA. I don't know about his reputation in Germany but I USED to be "friends" (as in, online through crab stuff) with him until we had an argument about the fact that he literally told me he doesn't care who his crabs go to or what kind of housing, over crowding, etc as long as he gets paid. He houses literally hundreds of crabs of all species mixed together in an enclosure with about 6" of EE (his videos are on YT), purchases babies that are WAY too young (3 can fit in a soda cap), films fights instead of breaking them up & essentially does almost everything we don't want a seller/harvester to do and that's just with hermit crabs; I can't even fathom how he cares for the numerous other species he houses & sells. He's also just a straight up jerk
