Ark is so noisy

Post by _PandorasBox_ » Mon Jul 06, 2015 10:37 pm

Just thought I would do a bit of an update on how everything is doing!

I found Ender by accident when I was cleaning things / moving them around. Poor girl, she shrunk back in her shell. She certinally wasn't dead, but I don't think she was molting either. Was she about to molt perhaps / destressing even more? She's been down there a few weeks now. I dug the hole ( She was underneath something, and the hole was collasping from me moving it, had to take her out for a few seconds to dig it back out ) , placed her back in it, then covered her with the coconut hut. I haven't seen her since then and it's so tempting to take a peek since I know where she is ( Unless she decided to be sneaky and move ) . I hope she comes back up soon, I'm hoping her leg regrows.

And with Ark.. He's been a Piggy like usual, eating almost all day when their light is turned on, or just sleeping right beside the food bowls / pooping right inside them, and running around most of the night. But, lately, he's been completely destroying the tank by digging massive holes and knocking over everything. Who knew a Hermit Crab on sand would be so noisy. All I hear in the night is him scraping about on the plastic of the container I keep them in.
And when he isn't digging, he's been climbing on top of an old hammik thing I had from my first Hermit Crabs so many years ago, two palm trees with a little netting in between them. He's been hanging upside down from them, entertaining to watch, to say the least.
But he went under completely last night, and I've barely heard a thing from him since then. I think he might be finally going down for his own molt! I'm nervous.. Mostly because he's showing signs, but just won't give in and just keeps eating his apples ( I think I found his favorite food, I always put a little frozen fruit chunk in one of the bowls, one being for mostly fruit and vegies, the other being for mostly protien, both with some egg shells crushed on top, and everytime I change the food out, he goes for the fruit and vegie one and the apples have been disappearing more lately when I check on them ) before destroying the entire tank.

I hope everything is going well! I'm nervous about the first molt. :crabblush:

They can be down for up to a few months with their first molt with you, so your crab that's only been down for a few weeks may have several to go. They can also pop up like ninja in the night, eat, then go back under.

Fuu, Ark doesn't want to go down, apparently, or a jinxed him. He was back up again, sitting by the little tunnel-thingy I have in there.
I imagine it would take that long, even with Ender being so small, due to the leg and all. I wonder what it was though, what caused her leg to go missing.. A fight or stress, either way, it was done in the petshop because there was no severed leg in their little carrier when they were brought home to me.
