Oh, dear, sounds like a busy evening...

Yeah, the tricky part is that wood measurements don't match wood labels; a "2x4" actually measures 1-1/2x3-1/2. A lot of times I measure stuff at home by taking a picture of my tape measure measuring the thing. Then I take my pictures and my tape measure to the store and start measuring stuff, and seeing how it compares to my pictures.

Looks like a 1x10, might be a 1/4 too wide.

A new piece of wood will not stain the same as aged wood. It's likely to come out a slightly different shade.

Since it is the front piece maybe I'll get lucky with an extra coat of stain. Unfortunately (or fortunately ) I got better at staining after the stand so they don't match as well as I would like. I wish I had it to do over. Little late with 350lbs or so of substrate and hermit.

I know what I'm going to do now. *fist shake* I'll redo the doors to the stand as well.

Shopping list:
Ez strip
Cheap paint brush
Roll of rags
Sand paper
Paint scraper

Bring it on.

I just thought of something. What if the screws that came with my new knobs are too long? I will try those out before going to the store.

I bought it last fall and did the stand as fast as I could (and made mistakes) then it got cold so I had to wait until warmer weather. So yeah. Lol it has spent 3/4 of a year out there.

I ran into a long screw problem like that once, and fixed it by putting some nuts all the way up the screw, effectively shortening the length of the threaded section of the screw. Just means the head of the screw sticks out a little bit on the back of the door.

They gave 2 lengths so maybe I will get lucky. I am so over this project. I am NOT a do it yourself person.
