Lethargic or just weird?

A new hermit crab I got around fathers day weekend has changed shells successfully! But it keeps burrowing himself! But he comes back up. When approached and moved bya human (to make sure he's alive) he scuttles to the back left corner of the tank and sits. Then burrows again! He's not seen eating or drinking and my biggest crab Hercules has approached him when he first come biut there was no sign of fighting!

Digging down is a very normal part of crabby life. They do it to de-stress, to molt, or sometimes just for the fun of it. It's important to leave them to it. I also would recommend not handling him, even when he's on the surface, until he at least successfully completes his first molt with you. Also, they eat so little that it can be difficult to tell if they are eating sometimes. Just keep offering a variety of good foods and clean fresh and salt water. Make sure all dishes have easy ways in and out.

Thanks and I believe he has molted with me. He went down the day I got him and came up about a week ago. So I believe he did molt

Here she goes , her name is Monday! (I checked and she's a girl)



She burried about the day after I got her, she had a fight with everyone in the tank! Swatted by my largest Hercules, she grabbed my smallest twice and then pushed Sticky into the water three times then she kept putting her legs on Num Num and so he pushed her off the log lol. She also got out of the horrid shell. Gonna try to strip all the paint off of the shells I've collected from crabs
