Re: My CL post worked!!
Sounds like he's got a big personality. I like crabs like that. Congrats on the adoption! I posted a CL ad like that years ago and even found a few in my area that way.

Thanks ️ I'm really enjoying them being more active and seeming more comfortable since I found HCA and got a better setup.

So this is the new dude(tte) contributing to overall tank cleanliness by eating sand off of the glass

I love when they do that! It must taste different than the sand in the substratemeg_and_the_zoo wrote:So this is the new dude(tte) contributing to overall tank cleanliness by eating sand off of the glass

Re: My CL post worked!!
my CL post may be working a little too well. Got a text today from some guy wanting to rehome 6 crabs. I think 10 PPs in a 40 gallon should be ok, right? If not I can setup my empty 20 gallon but I'd prefer not to have 2 if I can avoid it.

Honestly, I think 10 would be pushing it. Unless they are all quite small, then it might work for a little while. Imo you should probably use the 20g

Re: My CL post worked!!
It's a shell party lol turned out to be 7, not 6, new guys adopted today. Owner had them for about a year in pretty good conditions so all have had good molts he thought. One is so teeny weeny cute , one small, 3 mediums w/ one bordering on large and then 2 large/jumbos. The owner said that one of the jumbos is "kind of a jerk " so he's in ISO for the time being while I set up the 20g.
Any thoughts on who to put where as far as sizes or groups? I think the new 7 in the 20g would be way crowded so I was kinda thinking to put the 2 jumbos and my other newish big guy in the 20g. That would leave 8 small-mediums in the 40g. Thoughts?

I would put the smaller ones in the 20, and the larger ones in the 40. Those jumbos are going to need their space. You might even want to look into and upgrade

You think all 8 of the tiny-medium guys in the 20 & the 3 big boys in the 40? I'm ok with that but 8 in the 20 seems a little much too.
And trust me...as soon as I got the 40 setup I was already looking to go bigger but hubs said no until we move in October
And yeah, that tiny guy in the piled up shell is adorable

Re: My CL post worked!!
I think 8 is still too many. I've had problems with 4 in a 20g. That was when I still had my trouble making E, but overcrowding isn't great if it can be avoided.
That said, you might be able to get away with a few more in the 40. I'm probably not the best person to ask on this one, lol. I'd just go with what you think is best until you can get a larger tank .

I'm thinking maybe 7 & 4...just need to decide the 4th to go into the "big boy" tank. All of the smaller guys are pretty small so I think they should be ok with a well stacked 20g until I can convince the hubs to let me get a bigger tank he's just worried about moving even the 40g to the new house so anything larger and he's really going to be giving me the stink eye lol
I've got about 9" of sub in the 40g so I should be good for the biggest guys for a while there.

Re: My CL post worked!!
That sounds doable given the circumstance.
If you're really desperate, you could always go for a tote. I love mine. It's not quite as neat looking as a tank, but they are cheap and easier to move
