What should I do. He found a way around my contraption to keep him out and I found him over the exo with only the big pincher left. Will the molted crab be ok not eating his exo???Kim

Remove the crab that ate the exo, put him in an ISO tank if you have one. Make sure your molter can get at what's left of his shell, and also offer him steamed shrimp with the shell still on or even just the shrimp shells, make sure they're fresh every day or so. Then just wait for your molter to finish up and get back to his usual self.

If you don't have shrimp, boil some eggs, peel and crush the eggshells and feed that to your molter along with the rest of his exo.

Kimberlynns, when you say you have a cuttlebone in the tank, do you mean in it's whole form? As functional as their BP's are, they can't eat that unless you grind or crush it. Even those hermie pellets that look like little brown cylinders are too hard and need to be ground up. I put a piece in a baggie and worked it over with a rolling pin.To offer calcium supplements to the hermies molting or not cause you never know whose prepping up, I put out a scallop shell with the powdered cuttlebone, crushed eggshells and calcisand. I offer it once or twice a week to nonmolters and daily if someone's due or has just come up.

Kimberlynns, another beneficial food to offer your post molter is raw/organic honey. Put a bit in a small shell or bottle cap and set it close to him.
