Betta Water Conditioner?

Can I use it? Water bottles are expensive and the cheapest water conditioner was 8 dollars. But my betta one is five.

As long as it says that it neutralizes chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals it should be good to use.Does the Betta water conditioner have a slime inducer or aloe in it.?If you could please copy the ingredients list on the bottle and I will take a look and let ya know if it's safe or not.

It doesnt have ingredients but I can copy everything on the bottle.For betta bowls and aquariumsHelps neutralize ammonia, chlorine, and chloraminePromotes healthy slime coat Thats all it says for ingredients or anything close to it. Should I call and ask for ingredients?

Got them! Petsmart's website had the list so I copied and pasted.Ingredients: Water, EDTA, PVP, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Thiosulfate, Glycerin

The only thing I can see that would even be questionable in my mind is the Glycerin which is basically sugar alcohol has low toxicity and is used as a thickening agent in a lot of different things but I don't understand why it's used in a tap water conditioner. It's not listed as being toxic to water life or to crustaceans which is why it's in the conditioner presumably but I still don't get what it's actual purpose here is.

I just found out what it's doing in the product it's a humectant which is a substance that is used to keep things moist.It's the chemical opposite of a desiccant who's purpose is to keep things dry.The glycerin is used as a thickening agent to increase the viscosity of the water helping the water to attach to the skin of the fish this is usually the job of a natural hydro-collied like the extract from sea weed so I'm going out on a limb here and say it's safe for your crabs.If I'm wrong please someone correct me.

Out of curiostity, if you don't mine me asking, why don't you just buy a regular conditioner?[unless this is what the whole post is about] If you happen to have a Walmart around, go to the pet section and get a green bottle of conditioner for reptiles. That one is safe. I believe you can get a big bottle of conditioner by API for $8 at Walmart as well. The small bottles last a couple years just by regular use.As long as you do not have city water that is treated by chloramine[then you would need it to get rid of ammonia too] then I'm going to say it's safe.

I had a 24 pack of water before now for them. Now that Im out of water the only thing I have is the conditioner for the betta fish. Since i measure by the cup, its 3 drops. I dont have money until I take care of my neighbors cat and dog so it will have to wait. But is it safe for temporary use?Oh, and our nearest Target is 30 mins away and nearest Walmart is 45. Thats why Im ordering my stuff online.

Yes it will be fine. If you can, give your parent(s) money before they go to work. [Assuming they work in town?] Have them pick up the stuff for you one their way to or from work. Either print out a picture of the exact item or write down the specific brand and type. Maybe even choose a couple in case one is out. This would be a lot cheaper than paying shipping and handling and may save you some money that way your aren't struggling as hard to earn some. I will ask though, have any old people around? Usually older folks will want help with their gardening or lawn work. Ask your parents or grandparents to seek out people for you. I push mow and weed eat and lately that is the only thing putting fuel in my gas tank. I earn and additional $55 a week.

@dylan, chloramine is chlorine bonded to ammonia so when you remove or neutralize the chloramine the ammonia gets left behind and 99% of tap water conditioners don't remove the ammonia though there are a couple of brands like Ammo-lock and Prime but they are very expensive unfortunately.@HermitCrabby, yes the betta water conditioner is fine to use.

I payed $4 for a 3.38oz. container of conditioner that only gets rid of chlorine, chloramine and heavy metal. $1 more for something that gets rid of ammonia as well is definitely worth the investment, especially if you use it with fish.

@dylan, the last time I checked the aqueon water conditioner is actually a set of products the ammonia detoxifier is a separate product you have to use unless they've redone their line recently. Zoomed puts out a good all inclusive water conditioner but I can't ever find it locally and can't order it over the internets.lol
