Epiphytes? Sounds like a good idea, yet no one ever has done it, I don't think.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphyteht ... plantsHere is a list and it says whether they are poisonous or not.They should be checked further to see if they have any specific implications for arthropods or crustaceans.

People have tried it. I myself have done it. I'm guessing they didn't like my salt water spritzing - they didn't last all that long! But I hear the crabs will destroy them anyway. Here was some archived info I found: http://landhermitcrabs.com/eve...=960101163#960101163

Live plants do not do well around hermitcrabs are they are easily and quickly destroyed in addition most air plants though non-toxic to hermitcrabs don't tolerate the salt water we often mist our substrate and decor with to discourage mold growth and so don't live long.
