I just read that the food dye yellow 5 can cause people quite a few problems. http://www.associatedcontent.c..._yellow5_.html?cat=5I'm reading a lot of negative articles about that food dye so I would say no..... all I can tell you is that at the atomic level it has sulfur and salt!!lol!!!

No food dyes unfortunately as hermitcrabs process these things in much different way from us which can lead to the build up of these synthetic based dyes before the poor hermitcrab can flush them.Most people don't know this but several of the commercially available dyes on the market today get part of their pigmentation from heavy metals that are added to them such as copper for reds and oranges.The FDA says that these heavy metals present are in a small enough quantity so as not to pose a threat to humans but hermitcrabs are literally 100 times or so smaller than us so these safe concentrations may actually be way to high for them.
