amputation and the veggie chopper

Post by Laurie LeAnn » Fri Jan 17, 2014 5:00 pm

Got a call Tuesday from my son saying umm mom I'm in the e.r. I asked why did you do!? He said (laughing)=I cut the ends of my fingers off. How much? I asked cause can't be that bad he is talking to me. He says oh the tips, I said well do I need to come get you? The people in back are saying yes, so I call Darryl from work tell him we need to go get Kyle from e.r. meet his supervisor at the e.r. door she has been crying, Kyle is still laughing. He was trying to get a chunk of cucumber unstuck from a veggie slicer and it got the tips of his pointer and middle finger. Just missing the bone. Workers compensation is paying for all his Dr appt nd time off. Meds to. He gets to go back Monday for lite duty work in the hospital doing odd jobs since he can't cook or get his hands wet. Mdh loves journeys good worker with good attitude, makes people feel good. Hopefully the creams and bandages changes will do the trick nd no skin graphs.

Sometimes its easier &/or more manly to laugh instead of cry.Sounds crazy but he should be just fine if kept clean so no infection. The skin growing back shouldn't be a problem. An older person would probably have a harder time of it though.I used to work for a lady that had her middle and ring finger cut off to the knuckles. They had healed and she used them just like anyone else would.

Oh when they had to clean them he wasn't laughing then..I knew he was hurting. Dr said they should heal, just be flat on the ends.
