@megan_noel, the majority of us here don't do play time especially outside of the enclosure given that the typical humidity level of the average home in the U.S is only about fifty percent your actually putting your hermitcrabs at risk of gill scarring if they are regularly exposed to humidity levels below seventy percent for any length of time which is why we like to recommend if your going to do to keep it to a maximum of ten minutes to avoid any damage to the gills.
Hi I have autism so I tend to answer questions very directly and with little emotion so please don't think I'm being rude.

Right now where I live our house is very cold, so taking them out is a really do not do unless I really really have to. House is also very dry.

Crabs can have playtime in their own enclosure/tank. All you need to do is provide stuff to climb on or into. Taking the stuff out and rearranging these things will renew interest in them and your crabs will start exploring again.

I love crab playtime. Why I do is I put them in a big enclosed area in my room and I put a critter carrier lid in there so they can use it as a jungle gym. Also I put a piece of chicken wire standing vertically so they can climb it (I connect it to the fence surrounding them with twist ties). The last thing I do is play pandora for them. They love music. I play their favorite songs(broken hearted by karmin, party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, and year without rain by Selena Gomez). Those things make them really happy

Keep in mind the longer you keep a crab out of a warm humid condition the more you stress it out and do damage to their gills, they breathe this way. They need it to be warm and humid to breathe properly.
