fibromyalgia help please

Post by Laurie LeAnn » Tue Jan 21, 2014 3:09 pm

Any sufferers on here? Any of you have things like vitamins or ? That help with pain? I take lyrica 59 mg in the morning and night just had the morning dose added and so far it has just help a little of the pain but not much.Trying to explain to the hubby my pain is like talking to a brick wall. He blames my weight loss for my pain, he blames my medicine for my migraines for my pain, telling me now that I don't have them I should stop taking my meds.. how stupid is that? Trying to tell him what a neurologist is, is also like the above statement. Some people just don't understand. Instead I have to hear about how he hit his knee and could barely walk to his deer blind..how selfish and uncaring

fibromyalgia help please

He came home today to use the bathroom, I was fixing me dinner since I had to work at noon. Been feeling pretty low and worthless, you know.. when you have that get kicked in the gut feelings. He said see you later, I just said ya. He said what's wrong with you? I broke down in a mental mush. I think he kind of understands now my pain is a lot different that hitting your knee or back pain, he can go to Dr Lange get adjustments and probably feel better, where I wouldn't and won't feel better. My whole body has a deep throbbing ache, my back is really killing me today with my thighs..

@Laurie, I personally know people who suffer with fibromyalgia and I know how much of a trooper you have to be to deal with it on a daily basis seeing as there is no know cure for it in western medicine.I took the liberty and did a little research into diy pain relievers and found this, its a link to a website that gives you a recipe to make your own pain relieving cream.Hope it helps.
Hi I have autism so I tend to answer questions very directly and with little emotion so please don't think I'm being rude.

Neat idea for the cream. I dont tolerate some of the ingredients but I have found eucalyptus to be wonderful for me.I do not have fibro, I do have a good friend who does, we compare notes often because there are a number of common symptoms. I have a version of Lupus that is attacking my smooth muscles so while I don't have joint pain, I do have chronic muscle pain including the fascia.Crazy as some of these sound they have helped me enormously. I see a chiropractor on a regular basis, he keeps things from escalating. He does not manually adjust me very often because I end up with severe rebound pain instead what he does is trigger point massage and Reiki to gently convince my joint and muscles to move to appropriate places. Sometimes this takes quite a bit longer but it has been helpful. When the fascia connecting my ribs and my diaphragm spasmed one morning, it felt like I was having a heart attack, it was my chiropractor's massage therapist who relieved my pain. I also have found regular stretching and movement through yoga and Tai Chi to be incredibly beneficial, I no longer predict the weather, specifically storms, with my knees still get wicked headaches though. But I do private classes for both so my yoga class is designed specifically for me and changes depending on what is going on in my body that day. I do classes 3 times a week and practice in between. I can now do much of what I relied on the chiropractor to fix on my own with the yoga stretching. Great pain relief. I have found eucalyptus incredibly helpful for the headaches, I used the oil in the shower, inhaling the steam with the eucalyptus. I also have a spray I can use mixed with other things that help. I find ginger helpful when I have belly pain because the spasms will cause stomach and intestinal irritation. When the ulcer has reared its ugly head, Okra is healing. I have tried chamomile and tumeric without success. Cinnamon internally as well as in sea salt foot soaks have been wonderful for relieving that overall malaise. I used to follow the foot soaks with olive oil foot rubs but that bothered me too much tactily. Quercitin was recommended as a supplement to reduce inflammation but long term I don't tolerate that either. I was told to take fish oils, cod liver preferably but it would not stay down, we switched to evening primrose oil which caused the autoimmune antibodies to reduce significantly. The evening primrose has the side benefit of helping with some of the hormone swings that have come with perimenopause. Reducing sugar, refined carbohydrates, all fake sugars, breads and cow's milk products have all had a positive effect on pain relief. It is also vital that I get proper amounts of sleep on a regular basis. I will have a flare if I spend more than one night out or up late more than once a week or two. My body really likes consistency. It is also important when you are having a fibro flare to not push through it, you must stop and take care of yourself or it will be worse and last longer.

I don't know about the cream, I would be rubbing It pretty much all over my body and the smells would drive me nuts and the public I work with probably won't like it either.. i read somewhere that vitamin calcium is supposed to help with pain. Today after being under 2 heavy blankets, thick heavy hunter socks and my slippers that are fur lined for about 45 minutes I told Darryl feel my feet, they were cold.I told him see! When I say I am cold I'm not just saying it, I am cold, it's part of it. I go back to my Dr in April. If this doesn't calm back down then I think I will be switching meds. I try to do at least 30 min of excercize or 1 hour of cleaning the clinic and the floors are hard wood and the rock salt is just making a mess of them I have to go over then 3 or 4 Times. I think fibro should just be called a potpourri of pains. As far as cutting out sugars and what ever..I did pop and processed fast food like McDonald's places like that. I only drink water and tea. I went over board on candy at Christmas, not my fault.. kids bought in the house and it had to be ate.. Well I don't know what I am going to do, at least I think he knows what I am going through.

Calcium and magnesium work together, along with vitamin D. They need to be in certain ratios to be effective. Magnesium is a muscle relaxant so that is often used for pain, Epsom salt baths are recommended for sore achy muscles. It is magnesium sulfate. Vitamin D is important to the immune system, it marks invaders for the antibodies. People with autoimmune are often low in Vitamin D, as are most people is higher latitudes in the winter and may be implicated in seasonal affective disorder. Interestingly there are some thinking that a deficiency may be responsible for high cholesterol. It is interesting because we were taught in school that they gave strong bones but no one ever mentioned these other important aspects. The tough thing with all of this is you have to find what works for you sort of through trial and error. Pop is one of the worst things for bodies, it is great that you've been able to make a healthy choice. Exercise is good but somehow for me the yoga adds something very different which has been healing. My friend with Fibro swears that when she went vegan and gluten and sugar free, her symptoms became manageable. I can't live like that. I have tried each of those and gluten free did help, sugar free helped but they were miserable so I live best with low gluten, low sugar rather than none. Vegan made me feel quite ill, soy is bad news for the thyroid and I don't tolerate many nuts so protien became a major problem for me.

Yes to many nuts, peanut butter, and soy ewwwwe! Sits in my gut like a rock! Like to much sugar stuff. I feel bogged down sickly.... found out can't do pepperoni pizza...My friend says she has and says she is depressed and she hurts, but says she excercize for 2 hours or more a day, runs all over shopping..I went shopping today, made it to gators for lunch, hobby lobby 20 min. Wal-Mart about the same, farm king 30 and I told Darryl I was done, my legs hurt so bad, I was exhausted. I was asleep before we got home. Got home took my pills went to my son's let his ferrets out for 2 hours came home and watched t.v. for about 2 hours and passed again, now I have been awake for a few hours and I'm exhausted again and find myself falling asleep while typing on my Kindle. The range of pain and symptoms is baffling

LaurieHave you ever tried Norwegian cod oil? It makes certain kinds of pain go away. Seriously. Try two or three tablespoons in the morning.I don't have fibromyalgia but I have two other kinds of pain with no real cause - just getting old - and it makes them go away.

I don't know if I could do it...I gagged giving the crabs fish oil and I can't go in the fish markets with out gagging. This past week has been a little better, still ache but not as bad, just exhausted from doing very little. Took a shower at 7, napped til 11. Saturday pretty much slept all morning that way. Go back to Dr in April..

I know what you mean. They have orange and lemon flavored fish oil though. If you chase it with juice, its gone.If it works, it's worth it.
