Searching for Ecuadorians

Post by lexy_loves_hermits » Mon Jul 14, 2014 4:53 am

Hey!I am avidly searching for 2-4 or possibly even more Ecuadorians to add in with my 2 tiny PPs. I have NO clue where to find them though... Can any body who has E's or knows where I can get any give me some direction? Also, do E's have different needs than PPs? If so, what? Thanks in advance!Lexy

Searching for Ecuadorians

I have had e's for about five years now and they are definitely a handful.lolE's are not as hardy as the PP because they tend to surface from molting shelles being to weak to carry their shell back up with them which can lead to them becoming an easy meal for fellow tankmate so lots of extra shells with the D shaped opening should be available and the shells need to be lighter in weight to make them easier for the E to carry.E's absolutely require 24/7 access to marine grade salt water you can use Instant Ocean or Oceanics aquarium salts for this purpose.E's need lots of space because they love to climb, burrow and move all over the place so an enclosure smaller than thirty gallons wont be big enough for more than two unfortunately.E's need to have the temp and humidity levels stay a constant 80/80 for both values as they don't tollerate temps lower than 75 degrees or a humidity level belwo 78& very well at all. These crabs come from the Pacific coast of South America ranging all the way from Mexico to Chile so not many local pet stores like Pet-Smart will have them in, though Pet-Co has been known to carry them and I can find them at my local mom and pop pet store nearly every week so availablity just depends on where you live really.

Petcos tend to have them a lot. You can call your local pet stores to see which species they're carrying. I strongly recomend you don't buy from livehermitcrabs.com most people who buy from them have to wait months until they even get an answer from the owner about when they're crabs are being shipped, I've heard all but bad reviews from that place.
