If your planning on re-using the uth you have on your ten gallon you'd be better off getting the right size pad for your twenty gallon rather than using the undersized one you already have. For a twenty gallon you'll need a pad rated for 50-60gallons to get the right level of heat out put.

They're supposed to come off and restick. I have had no trouble with that myself. If you aren't going to reattach it right away, use something to cover the sticky so it doesn't get dusty - I used packing tape in a rare MacGyver moment.

Just make sure when you reattach that there isn't a significant air gap between the UTH and tank. Even a thin one, it needs to be mostly in direct adhesive contact in order for the thermal conduction to work efficiently.

To carefully remove a uth you need to let it get good and heated up then unplug it.While its still warm grasp one corner of the pad and gently pull the corner your holding back towards yourself at an angle as you don't want to pull the pad back straight across as this will damage the wires inside the pad making it useless.Slowly pull the pad back towards yourself until you have peeled it completely off while avoiding bending it.Next you'll want to let the pad completely cool down and then you can stick it on the other tank by bowing the pad gently in the middle sticking that part to the glass first then work one side down then the other using the edge of your hand to smooth out the pad as you go this will help to prevent the accumulation of too many air bubbles. Some brands of uth pads don't come off easily and when they do you will loose all of the adhesive backing because that particular brand of pad wasn't actually meant to be removed and reused.
