best heat source for 30 gallon
I will most likely be getting a new tank very soon. I have 5 or 6 small hermit crabs in a 10 gallon tank. (bought 6 about 5 weeks ago - only can find 5 now) Think I'll skip the 20 gallon tanks and go for a 30 gallon. I've had a hard time getting my 10 gallon tank warm enough. Starting from scratch, what would be the best way to heat a 30 gallon tank?

I have a large UTH and overhead lights (40 watt?) on mine and it has always kept it warm enough. When I adopted one of the sets of crabs they came with the 30 gallon tank. It had all EE in it. Sometimes I wonder about geothermal type effects from EE as opposed to only sand... Anyway, back on subject, we live in CT and it does get quite cold here but I have a fairly well insulated house I guess because I rarely have had a problem with temperature in the tanks. They are near windows without being in direct sunlight, maybe that helps. But when I got them from their former owner in MD, they had ceramic heat lights (no light come from it, it's just a bulb for heat). He had two of them which he had on timers to turn on and off for evening. One even has an adjustable knob. I used it at first but figured out that I didn't need it. My tanks stay 75-85 all summer without any heat from the UTH and the same all winter with the set up described. My house is set 75-80 degrees in the summer and 62-75 in the winter.
