Alrighty, so I'm new, and I've seen this forum posted a multiple of times.I owned hermit crabs in the past, but had a hard time with them, and eventually I moved out of the place I had them. I now own them again, and I've read a lot of stuff online, and I've gotten some advice from some people. But I come here now, in hopes this place is still active. xD[No offense, I just never know if forums are]So, since I'm new I'll post my story. [TL;DR ver -> I'm new to hermit crabs, and need help. I also want to ask questions as they come to me. c:]For my birthday my mum bought me hermit crabs, since she knew I had some in the past, and liked them. Little did she know that they're a bunch of work to get started up. She got me some things, but I was missing a lot of stuff. Where she had gotten the hermit crabs; Pet Smart, and there, there was some dude who said he owned hermit crabs before. He gave her a temp/humidity gauge, calci-sand, some coco-husk, fish food, a kind of hidey hole, and a water dish along with a food dish. My mum had a small fish tank in which she gave me to use, unknowing that it was too small.[I feel super bad for her, 'cause I told her these things, and it made her feel bad. Even though it wasn't her fault. ]I forgot what to do, and all the danger, but I knew there were some. I used what my mum had given me, and then began to search online for the right way to take care of these guys.To skip a lot of trial and error. My friends helped me get some things I have a tank, semi set up. it has sand and coco-husk in it I put a container in it full of salt water. I'll also put in a dish of drinking water. [Not sure which one is supposed to be bigger. Drinking or salt.] and where the temp gauge will go, in the center, mid way up the wall.I'm planning on getting things for them to climb, a UTH, I want to use the air pump [for fishtanks] to put it in the salt water, so it'll be bubbly, and will keep humidity up. Proper food. I've gotten them carrots, now. Better places to hide on the surface. The tank is also a lot bigger. [I'm getting the UTH tomorrow]I want to ask questions as they come to me, but I'm not sure if it's cool beans to do that on this forum. To be honest I don't even know if my guys are alive or dead. I haven't seen them un-borrowed for two days. D;

Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of folks here who will give you terrific advice and opinions that are trustworthy. I find jumping in and asking questions works well. Posting in the LHC forum will probably be the best place.Peg

Hello and welcome to the forums here at LHC.comDon't be afraid to ask questions though it's best to start your own threads so as not to hijack someone else's that We're in the process of replying to as it can get pretty confusing.lolHaving your own individual thread will also help to expidite answers to your specific questions.Our forums here at LHC.com were created with the sole purpose of getting the right info out to the public, to help newbie crabbers and to be a place where newbies and oldies alike can gather and share information and stories so please feel free to ask us as many questions as you like and remember there is no such thing as a stupid question here at LHC.com.
