I've used spaghnum moss in the past. I soaked it in salt water and then squeezed out the excess and put it in damp. I've read they like to snack on it but mine didn't. It did good for the humidity though.

I added plain old terrarium moss, you can get it at pet stores in the Reptile section. I didn't wet mine down they really seem to like it dry, when it gets wet they stop eating it. I wonder why??Sandra

I use moss from my backyard (not treated, endangered or toxic as far as I know). You will have insects in your crabitat when you do this.

I use hiawatha moss from the craft store and sometimes sheet moss. Read the packaging to insure it's all natural then tear a small hole and sniff it. If it's an unnatural green (for something dried) or smells chemical-y, it's been dyed and should be avoided. Also avoid Spanish Moss.I also bought some live moss online. My crabs went NUTS for it. I use moss that's been recycled from natural sources and cleaned. I think it's spaghnum moss. The crabs seem to like it, since they're always dragging it into the food and water bowls.
