Copper sulfate to kill water pests

Post by JediMasterThrash » Thu Jul 18, 2013 1:09 pm

I thought it was interesting when I read an article in our local paper about a beach infected with "swimmers itch" (some kind of flatworm that drills into your skin). They said they're carried on snails and stuff like that. They said the only known way to rid them is to use copper sulfate, which kills all the snails and most other water organisms in the vicinity. They have to use enough to kill stuff but make sure it's not so much as to kill too large of an area.Anyway, just reminds me why we avoid it for hermit crabs!

Thanks for sharing this JMT! And good to know this is why we don't feed it to our crabbies.
