Distilled water

Post by DaTrininator » Tue Oct 20, 2015 5:42 pm

I bought a fogged for my crabs and it recommends using distilled water, and I am wondering is it safe for them? Also do I have to declorinate it and how much should I use (if the dose is different.)

Completely safe and really no need to dechlorinate because of the way they work. Distilled water is free of all dissolved solids which is why it should be used in foggers and humidifiers - there is nothing left behind to build up on parts when the water evaporates. Dehclor is a salt, so that can case damage to the unit over time. With my hard water here if I use tap water it kills the fogging plate in just a couple of months!
