Is this normal?

Post by Krusty2015 » Wed Nov 18, 2015 12:09 am

My crab has been on the top of his Cholla wood for the past 30 minutes just looking out of the tank. I cut the room light on and he moved his antennas that's about it.

Remember; these little guys are wild animals and are use to roaming miles and miles of beaches, mangroves, dunes and rainforests. Now; compare that to a tank. Kind of restricting huh? Most likely its nothing... It just the crab's tiny brains being weird again. As long as he doesn't say there for days; he'll be fine IMO.

During the day they are pretty much docile..just hanging out..some will hide. Mine don't hide. Mine will hang out anywhere. During the night they become active.ideas.. I don't know what you tank looks like but.. You might add more things to climb. Like a big rock, or a pile of rocks , boil them first, fake wood or stuff from from the fish section, fake plants..I use silk. Mine eat the plastic.. also if the humidity and temp is off that will make them sluggish. Mine won't move if there is a bug r something in the tank.. picky picky picky

I did go to feed him and he decided to come down to eat! I guess he was trying to tell me he wanted something new to eat! I have a hut, a plastic climbing branch, a small piece of Cholla wood and I added in some silk aquarium plants today. I'm also ordering some hemp nets today and I'm going to put in a soap caddy for his shells and a caddy for his moss as well today.

If you have trouble with the caddies sticking to your tank I prop stuff up under them..

Mine dig a tonne too. Sometimes if i get up in the middle of the night i catch them out and about....my one little guy will freeze when he sees me and then veeery sloooowly start towards his hole and at the last second speed up and jump down the hole like he's Bugs Bunny. Its pretty funny to watch.

I also prop stuff under my second level, right now i have a moss pit basket sitting on a broken tea pot that they like to hide in.
