55 gallon redo
Okay here are some pics.
Redid my 55 gallon, still working on the others. Managed to finish this one tonight with the help of my roommate.

Wow, looking good!
(Can't help think of the amount of space your crabs could have if you joined up all your tanks! They all really cool)

We have two 60 gallons and a 75 as well but the 75 has a major crack and cannot be used.aussieJJDude wrote:Wow, looking good!

There is also a 29 gallon being set up for the 3 small E's and 2 additional 20's.

Looks like you have a little furry helper!
The tanks looks so natural, I love that!
You got a lot of tanks going on there. It's a good thing you have that kitty helper to make the rounds and check on everything. I'm sure you put her supervisory skills to good use.

Looks good! I have that same hanging coconut and use it as a moss pit; the crabs love it.
Love the kitty helper! I can't mess around in either of my tanks without a couple cats supervising.

Re: 55 gallon redo
We have 5 rescue cats, and let me tell you we cannot bring sand, tanks, crabs or anything else in this place without several inspectors "helping"!
All of the tanks are always a work in progress; we have access to a friend's land that has tons of never been treated or touched wood so every time the roomie goes out to visit, she brings back bags of leaves and limbs.
The dream is to buy a house soon and build a custom enclosure. We want to do that this year but some transitional life things are happening.
We are starting to adopt out "rehabbed" crabs because we continue to take in a lot from the DFW metroplex. We have 15 coming tomorrow, they'll be getting their own 60 gallon setup. We are crabbing on a budget haha, and constantly look through Craigslist and Freecycle.

Did you soak your wood in your salt water and dry in the oven? Warm moist conditions will bring out bugs in your wood you didn't know you had..

All of the leaf litter is frozen for a few days before using in the tanks. The wood is soaked in salt water and baked at 250°F for 2 hours.Laurie LeAnn wrote:Did you soak your wood in your salt water and dry in the oven? Have you ever seen your crabs using the hamster wheel? I have the same one, but haven't put it in any of my tanks yet. I saw a video on facebook of a crab using one and looked like it was absolutely loving it!

They fight over it, there's almost always a crab in there.marandashermies wrote:Have you ever seen your crabs using the hamster wheel? I have the same one, but haven't put it in any of my tanks yet. I saw a video on facebook of a crab using one and looked like it was absolutely loving it!
