Thank God he changed shells!

Post by charbeenie » Sat Feb 13, 2016 8:33 pm

Image Got him home about an hour ago and he changed shells! It took the old one out after I noticed he changed. I was scared he was going to stay in it! Our my E would change into it. It was chipping and way to small for him! I am going to try and get the paint off and boil it for one of the other crabs to use maybe later.

Well he picked 2 other ones since this pic. Poor guy can not decide! We even put his old shell back in because he seemed nervous when I took it out.

I have all kinds in there. I had my Es first and they are picky I got all kinds. I am going to go tomorrow and take his old shell with me and try and find ones like them but bigger. The last one he changed into and has been in for the longest looks very close to his original one. Wha kind do you have for yours?

I recommend that you try out some turbos. PPs prefer them the most. Every single pp that I've ever owned moved into a turbo shell right away :p (with the exception of one) you can get them pretty cheap at craft stores, dollar stores, and Walmart.

Ok thank you. I will be on the hunt for them tomorrow. I feel bad he doesn't like anything I have. I will try and get him a few to pick from. Since he is the biggest in the tank he wont have to share lol

I have 2 purple pinchers and 2 Es. I got them all at Petco. I only took the 1st E because when the lady at Petco opened the cage he(she, have no clue how to sex them) came running and didn't want to go back in so it took him lol and he is a cutie! I got a purple pincher with him but he would chase it around the tank and bully it so I took that one back. I didn't want him to kill it. And they had another E and they did great together. Since I have a 55 gallon tank my g/f got me 2 purple pinchers today. My other purple pinch is very small and I took her because she was being bullied in the tank and she is missing parts of her legs. She is starting to dig down so I am hoping she will molt and pick a new shell.

Ahh okay :) sometimes it is actually quite easy to sex them. Though I've noticed that at sometimes you really can't tell or they seem to "change".

Give me a sec, I'll go find the tutorial for you
