Side note (sort of). Has anyone ever ordered from a company called sea corals through Amazon or had to return something through Amazon? This is the first time I've ever sent something back and the return postage I received said I have to pay the return shipping. Is this an amazon thing or the other company? Also is this the norm? I kind of think it's ridiculous that the product and shipping showed up here in such horrible shape and now I have pay just to return it? I mean I'm guessing they'll refund the amount of the product itself but I don't want to pay for shipping something twice when the fault wasn't on my end.

Last year I ordered an archery bow case through Amazon but when I received it, although the exterior of the case looked like the photo in the ad, it had none of the interior features described. I found the Amazon Customer Service link and emailed them a lengthy diatribe about the product and wanting to return it for a full refund. They sent me a link that allowed me to arrange a UPS pickup (printed out the label at home) at no charge and credited the full amount of the purchase, including shipping. You can always try Customer Service and have the pictures to back up your claim. Sometimes, if a product is so badly damaged, the seller doesn't even want it sent back...what are they going to do with it?...and will send a replacement, perhaps better packed if you make that a point.

Thanks crabinski, I finally called the actual company and got it all sorted out. Apparently once they receive the lid they'll refund the price of the lid and the shipping! I can't wait to put this whole thing behind me and have a nice lid on the tank
