Is this normal, should I worry and can I help?

I was unaware of the shortage thank you for informing me on this where I live there's a large amount of shells

Often times my biger crabs seem to be to big for their shells and it isn't a big deal. But your guy is hanging about way to far. As for the painted I have had a crab move out of his painted shell and had someone else move in before I even noticed, more than once. So I don't think they are against painted over natural.
