This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

Here are some pics...still working on it and adjusting some things, but will update as I can. Image
I went to Petsmart the other day to get a few more supplies for this crabitat and, while there, saw they had 5 hermits in deplorable conditions. 2 jumbos, biggest ones I’ve personally ever seen. As much as I hate purchasing from pet stores, I knew the conditions would likely kill them. So I bought all 5 and have them in an isolation tank right now. Had to take a step back from my new Exo Terra build and work on getting these new guys healthy.

Wow, that looks amazing!! Those are some lucky crabbies!!

Did you make the wooden stand or buy it?? I’ll definitely be using those pictures for inspo, hope you don’t mind :)). My birthday is in about a month so my lil bubbies are going to be spoilt. I’ve got one down atm for his first moult, once he returns it’ll be 2 down one to go as far as first moults go. I’ve already got some wood and things to climb on for them but I’m loving the idea of the stand.

What size expo terra is that? I think I’m going to go with an exo Terra because I’m in Melbourne and letting all the heat out of the top when I open it in winter is not the best idea. Or at least something with doors at the front. Definitely thinking a light but I’m still in the conception stage of my ideas. This definitely helped.

100% let me know how your ‘rescues’ go, I hope they all make it. Have they got names yet?

Update:

Getting a tank tomorrow that’s 4 ft long, 30cm deep and 45 cm high, how many crabs do you think would fit in that?? It’s 60 gal, I’m thinking 5-6 in total (I have 3 right now) but correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t plan on buying more, I think I’ll wait until some near me need re-homing. Just want to know how many more I can take on :)

I’m not an expert, as I’ve only ever had 3 crabs at once, but I think 5 or 6 small/medium crabs would fit pretty well in a 60-gallon!

Yeah i thought that, I'm very excited to set it all up but i want to take my time to properly understand what they need and make sure it's perfect so i don't have to change tanks again and all that jazz. :)
