yes, i should have mentioned that...and the article i linked does mention freezing the crickets in order to kill them humanely before feeding in order to avoid the problems you mentioned...

u can do dried krill for protein. at least it will do until you get your new stuff in.

Right now I am using earthworm castings, a little honey, cuttlebone, some of the dried food mixed with the rest some carrots, cocoanut. The dried food has krill and some other fishy stuff in it as well as chopper sulphate :/ but right now I am just waiting on some samples from Nar Nar so when i have those will use them while i wait on my order. Though we are giving them as much fresh fruit and veg as we can. If we eat something I know they will like I cut some up and put it in for the little guys.

I feed my hermit crabs whatever is in the fridge/cabinet. Carrots, raisins, walnuts, oats, and celery is what I usually find that my hermies love. I also feed them cuttlebone from a pet store, and raw unsalted cashews from Trader Joe's. They are actually delicious and yesterday I watched Sandy and Leia eat some.

cool stuff, so far they are destorying the food from happy hermit crab as well as some dried krill and coconut with carrots
