Hello! I have had two crabs, Tarantino, for about 5 years, and Lurhmann for about 2. During this time, I moved from college, back home, and to an apartment. Just before I moved to the apartment I noticed thin silver bugs in the food. I assumed these were food mites. In addition, there was an overwhelming amount of gnats. I took out all of the substrate, baked it in the oven, and replaced it. I washed all of their wood pieces and bowls, and replaced the moss in their moss pit.
Within the last month, the gnats came back full force! In addition, my crabs are both burrowed and tonight I found a leg above ground covered in the thin silver bugs. It was not their this morning and Tarantino was above surface. (Lurhmann has been out of sight for about a week, but the two of them often tunnel).
I am very concerned. I have read the posts about the bugs and am really at a loss for what to do next.
Advice please!
(The heat in my apartment certainly fluctuates more than in my parents house, so their tank has been on the colder side more often than usual. They eat a balanced diet, heavy on freeze dried insects and fruit.)
