Chives and green onions?
Chives and green onions?
I'm giving the babies a mini version of my egg snack and mine has chives and green onions on it. Thoughts? I'm leaving it off theirs since the lists couldn't confirm or deny, but I figured it'd be good to know for the future. (:

Re: Chives and green onions?
Onion is on the unsafe and unpopular list. They're all (chive, onion, and green onions) allium spp. I usually try to avoid things with onions listed as an ingredient unless it's very, very low on the ingredient list (and then not very often). I know others have a different opinion. At this point I'm sticking to better safe than sorry. At least for now.

Re: Chives and green onions?
I've never tried anything in the allium family either. I know people use garlic as a natural parasite treatment for fish so it should be safe for hermits, but I can't get myself comfortbale with the idea. It's deadly to cats (causes life threatening anemia) and I sometimes get really ill from eating too much garlic or onion.
