suction cup help

I made a second level in my new tank and used suction cups, and I recently found out metal is very bad for hermies to be around and these particular cups use a small metal hook. Can I coat it in aquarium sealant or something? The way I set up needs the cups to poke through burlap and. Plastic hooked cups wouldn't do that

Not all metal is harmful as it was once thought. Take a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?t=79277. If you're still worried you can cover the metal in aquarium sealant.
