Crabs never seem to come out from hiding

Post by cejorn » Sat Jul 04, 2015 1:08 am

I have 5 hermit crabs in a 20 gallon tank. I moved them into the 20 gallon tank because I thought they would like the space better. They have been in the tank for about a month now. I never see them. All five of them stay hidden under their log all the time. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to move around a little more?

Hi and welcome, please fill this out so we can help you.
New crabs like to destress for a bit; if it's a new tank they can do this as well. Also, they are nocturnal and generally aren't super active during the day.

They also bury themselves to molt and can be down for weeks to a few months depending on size and how long they take. Never dig them up if they bury unless it's an emergency.
