When people say they found the eggs in the sw and they are already dead, what does that mean? They are in the wild dropped in the ocean? Why would they die in the water in captivity? I am really curious. Once mine start *if they start* mating I want to attempt to bring them to land. I like to learn everything I can when it comes to stuff like this so if I am lucky enough to have a female with eggs I will be ready to jump into action. I am going to read through all the articles again out of pure curiosity and fascination

Re: Question about breeding and eggs
Water quality and lack of aeration. A thousand babies in a small pool of water will suffocate extremely quickly, and the debris from the eggs will raise the ammonia extremely quickly.
My crabs always lay the eggs before the babies are fully formed, which doesn't help. They can't swim and don't stand a chance.

Mine were dropped anywhere up to 24 hrs before I saw them, I think you need to find them within a few hours of them being dropped in a bubble pool. The water was really gross when I found them.
